An Australian Danbo Collector
Like most people, I brought my first Danboard to take some fun photographs on holidays. The humble Amazon Ver. seen in photos all over the world. I figured this cute figure would be the only one I would carry in my camera bag…I was wrong! My collection obsession began when going for a walk in my local community. I came across a garage sale and stumbled upon a box with about 15 Danbos of all sizes in it. I brought it for a huge cost of $5…..my collection had begun! Now living in Australia, Danbos are not the ideal thing to collect…they are hard to access unless you want to be ripped off by some eBay seller on a regular basis.
If you don’t know who Danboard is, the Danbo character is from Kiyohiko Azuma’s manga series Yotsuba&!. In the manga, Danboard is a costume worn by Miura Hayasaka, a friend of Yotsuba’s most frequent playmate, Ena Ayase.
I now have a collection of over 100 Danboards and am always on the hunt for more. My biggest problem is finding information or details on the different versions of Danboard. I am hoping this blog rectifies this for other collectors and people can add to my information.
